Taking a Look at the Weirdest Bars & Clubs Worldwide
April 09, 2013 - 3:45 am | PermalinkBored of your neighborhood bar or pub? The next time you hop on a plane, make sure to check out some of the most unique bars and clubs in the world—don’t worry, the cover charges aren’t too bad. Well, actually, they probably are.
Chillout
Location: Middle East
It comes as no surprise that the folks who live in the Middle East can appreciate a little air conditioning, but the Chillout “ice lounge” takes things a step further—everything is made out of ice. The seats, the tables, the bar, and even the glasses drinks are served in are all ice. When it's 110 degrees in the winter, a lounge like this must be like stepping into a room of icy-cool relief.
The Beautiful Room
Location: Dallas
Irritating feminists and other ugly people the world over, The Beautiful Room lives up to its name: only beautiful people are allowed. Beautiful on the outside, of course, what's inside doesn't count (at last!). The owners don't mess around either, since guests of the club have to undergo an interview and submit photographs of themselves. None of that “But my mom says I'm handsome!” BS here.
The Museum Bar
Location: Switzerland
Despite the incredibly boring-sounding name, this place is pretty amazing. HR Giger, the designer of Alien fame who won an Oscar for best special effects, decided to make a bar...made entirely out of bones. Visitors says like it feels like being in the belly of some kind of creepy monster, except that instead of being painfully digested by stomach acids, you can order a glass of scotch. Giger designed the bar with the story of Jonah and the whale in mind. Even the stools are made out of bone!
Red Sea Star Bar
Location: UNDER the Red Sea
No, seriously, this place is underwater. Going with the aquatic theme, you must feel like the Little Mermaid when you sit on one of those jellyfish-inspired stools (in the most manly way possible, of course). All of the tables have windows to the sides and above them, so that you can look out at the underwater scenery. Plus, the place just looks classy as hell. You'd just have to hope that it didn't spring a leak.
