Real Men Love: Enter The Dragon

Yes, friends, it’s been a while, but we’re back, and with a classic that ALL of you Real Men Love, hands down. No, it’s not porn (we’re contractually obligated not to do any of that, despite your love for it), it’s the Bruce Lee epic, Enter The Dragon.

There's not one thing about this movie that doesn't kick ass. This is one of those movies that all of us can sit down and watch 800,000 times and STILL love it. I know I have.

The Trailer

Honestly, I would LOVE to see a new trailer cut for this movie using today's style and technology... not a remake of the movie, mind you, just a recut of the trailer.

The Plot

Lee (as in Bruce Lee) is asked to investigate a secret martial arts tournament held by a former shaolin monk named Han. Han is believed to be using the tournament as a cover for prostitution and opium production. Lee is reluctant to become involved until he learns that his sister was killed by one of Han's enforcers, a man named O'Hara. Lee is joined on the island by Roper and Williams, two American martial artists who served together in Vietnam but now each have personal stakes in the tournament as well.

The Characters

bruce lee - enter the dragon
Lee - Bruce Lee at his coolest, a reluctant spy who seeks vengeance for his sister's untimely death.

Best line (tie): "Don't think. FEEL. It is like a finger pointing away to the moon. Do not concentrate on the finger or you will miss all that heavenly glory," and "Boards... don't hit back."

han -- enter the dragon

Han - The cruel master of the island, running prostitution and opium smuggling under the guise of the tournament.

Best line: "Very few people can be totally ruthless. It isn't easy; it takes more strength than you might believe."

Bolo - One of the most recognized characters in martial arts films, Bolo was Han's massive enforcer, striking fear into virtually everyone he faced.

Best line: No lines, actually, but grunting as he bent a man literally in half would definitely be the closest to a "line".

roper - enter the dragon

Roper - One half of the American duo, Roper was seeking a way to escape the mob and deal with his ever-mounting gambling debts.

Best line: "A man's strength can be measured by his appetites. Indeed, a man's strength *flows* from his appetites."

williams - enter the dragon

Williams - The other half of the American duo, Williams assaulted two racist cops and was forced to flee to the island and compete.

Best line: "Man, you come straight out of a comic book."

(Author's note: Personally, I think some of the best verbal exchanges were between Williams and Han.)

O'Hara - The man responsible for killing Lee's sister and Han's right hand man.

Best line: "You must attend the morning ritual in uniform."

Why Real Men Love It

One word comes to mind here: DUH.

This movie has EVERYTHING. A simple but cool plot; martial arts ass-kickery by the greatest ever to kick martial arts ass; great one-liners; a snake used as a distraction technique; boobs; a kung fu free for all climax followed by one of the most badass end fights of all time...what more could a real man want in his movie? I'll tell you what...not a damn thing!

And because we KNOW you've all seen it, and because we KNOW that you can't talk about this movie without wanting to see it AGAIN, here's the finale for you! Don't say we don't love ya...
