How to Plan an Out of Town Weekend Party Trip
August 06, 2012 - 7:41 am | PermalinkNeed to get out of town for some good old fashioned R&R? Are you prepared to cram all of your buddies into your mom’s Honda Civic? If so, read on and learn how to escape for an awesome out of town weekend party trip.
Do you live in a small town, populated mostly by retirees, overweight girls, and guys who proudly display Volcom stickers on their raised pickup trucks? If you're lucky, maybe you haven't been resigned to the hell that is civilian life in Podunk USA, but you just want a change of scenery. Good for you. Either way, the easiest, cheapest way to remind yourself that there really is an outside world is to plan a weekend party trip. Here's how:
Invite Your Friends, But Don't Expect Them to Help Pay

It's no fun to explore the great unknown by yourself, so invite some of your pals. However, expect at least one of them to “forget” gas money, beer money, cover charge entry, any kind of money. This will happen, so plan your budget accordingly.
Know Where You're Going

You're men, you want to explore, you've decided that you have no boundaries for your weekend, no limits, and you're ready to hit the open road! At least one of your pals is going to suggest that you just “see where the road takes you,” probably the guy who, ahem, forgot his portion of the gas money. Don't listen to him. Your trip will end at a dingy biker bar where you'll be drinking domestic beers, playing pool with only six balls, and considering accepting the advances of a “regular” patron named Sharla, who wants to take you back to her trailer to introduce you to her kids.
Pack Extra Clothing

Someone will puke on your shirt. Just hope that it's you.
Only Spend Cash

So it's Friday night, you've finally arrived at your party destination, and you're hitting the clubs with your buddies. The next morning, you wake up and realize that you've spent $600 and you're wearing women's shoes. This could have been avoided if you had left your debit/credit card safely in your hotel room and only brought enough cash for the evening – your nightly budget. Be a responsible alcoholic; leave the plastic somewhere safe, and only bring as much cash as you're willing to spend.
