i would say sonic. as long as we arent counting anything that ruined sonic after the sega cd. i mean in his back then he was faster than mario. and also jumped higher. mario would even touch sonic.

vae, but the tanooki suit let mario "fly" like the raccoon suit, and turn to stone and become inpenetratable

mario doesn't stand a chance sonic is too fast, too fast even for mario in the raccoon suit, flower power doesn't work either sonic is too fast for mario to hit with fireballs and even with the invincible star sonic could still out run him so after mario is on the ground coughing up his lungs from trying to chase sonic around sonic could just walk over and stomp him
