April 03, 2013 - 3:46 am | PermalinkReady to start making more cash? Here’s 5 tried and proven ways that you can start proving your worth, gain trust in the workplace, and be an all around better employee for your company. Resulting in more moolah for your time.
5. Be Trustworthy

Proving yourself to be trustworthy is not something that will happen overnight. You first need to learn the basics of the job and have the basics memorized so you can impress your boss whenever the boss might show up unexpectedly. Show up to work on time and act like you want to be there. Do the required tasks the manager provides on time. Don’t be afraid to ask the boss questions if you don’t understand the task. Jumping into a task without understanding it might be one of the worst things that you can do for yourself.
4. Get Creative

Think above and beyond the task that is put in front of you and look out for ways that might improve the current standards and the process of the task. If a task is difficult or hard to understand; look for ways to improve it and identify the weakness of the given task. You must demonstrate that you have leadership qualities plus value to the boss even if you don’t agree with the task.
3. Help out the Company and Coworkers

Know the goals of the company and try to understand the direction of the company. If you understand the direction then help the company out and also help your coworkers understand the direction. Help out your coworkers in areas that will demonstrate the type of value you have at work. The job that the boss has becomes easier and once you start interacting with the coworkers you might also learn more. Teamwork is also a great way to make sure that the task gets done in time but someone must lead the team and be sure everyone is doing things right.
2. Help out the Boss with Getting the Boss to Succeed

Sometimes your boss might need help. They might not always ask for help so it’s important that you take the time out and ask if your boss might need help with something. If they say yes then you must be ready to help with anything without complaining. Let your boss show that you support him/her and talk over the goals that they have. Don’t ask the boss if they need help if you don’t have the time to help them and don’t be watching the clock every few seconds when you are helping them. Smile and have a good attitude even if the work is extremely hard.
1. Ask If You Can Have a Raise

Once you show that you are trustworthy plus demonstrated values then you can ask the boss for a raise. You should be working with the boss for at least 6 months before you ask and have demonstrated all of the above things I mentioned. Be grateful even if the raise is just a few cents and know that if you continue to do your job then your raise might continue to go up.
