5 Simple Ways to Motivate Yourself

Sometimes we struggle to motivate ourselves, If you find yourself lacking motivation here are 5 simple ways to motivate yourself and hopefully they will help you.

5. Start off Slow

It doesn’t matter what you’re doing just start off at first doing things slow. When you are exercising do some warm ups before you go for a walk. If you find yourself looking at the clock and rushing things then you might do your task sloppy and it can turn into something stressful. Starting off slow allows you to stay focused on the task and prevents stress. You’ll also want to start off with a task that is small like cleaning your desk and then you can move on to the bigger assignments that you have for the day.

4. Don’t Compare Yourself with Others

Comparing yourself to others might kill the motivation you have. It might always seem as if the other person is better off then you and that no matter what you do, you’ll never catch up. This is how comparing yourself to others is dangerous but yet, we might do it from habit. Instead of comparing yourself to other people just focus on the one person that matters the most and that is you. Focus on your personal results and review what might need to be changed and how you personally have improved.

3. Make a Big Goal and Make Yourself a Deal

Sometimes a goal is what you need for motivation. A small goal might help you but if you can reach it fast then it might cause you to lack motivation again so planning a goal that is big has a great effect on you and often times stirs up lots of motivation. You can set goals for the day, week and for the month to help you and you can do a mix of small and big ones. The small goals can all be aimed towards reaching the big goal. Make a deal with yourself and even after you have completed just a small goal have some time of deal that will help to motivate yourself to finishing up the rest of the goals such as  “I’m going to watch a movie because I completed that goal”.  Let all deals that you make with yourself be unique but write them down when you write down your goals.

2. Ask Yourself Questions That Are Uplifting

Ask yourself five questions that can help empower you and stir up motivation. You should ask these five questions every morning and even at some point in the afternoon. Whenever you feel that you are lacking motivation then ask yourself these questions:

“What am I _ about right now in my life?” (Are you happy, or excited about life right now?)

“What about it makes me _?”

“How does it make me feel right now?” (Do you feel motivated from it, discouraged or happy from it?)

Whatever it is that you name make sure it’s how you’re really feeling. You might be taking something for granted and might not even realize it until you ask those questions. It’s a great way to also release feelings before starting off the day and then start feeling positive about what you’re going to be doing.

1. Smile

It can be hard to smile sometimes but you need to act like you are motivated and once you start acting like it then you might just find yourself motivated. Just smile and act enthusiastic for just a few minutes and you’ll be amazed as to how it can help you. Stop complaining about what needs to be done and just smile.
