'Rogue One' Diversifying its Droid Cast

null

Meet the newest astromech droid in the Star Wars Universe, C2-B5! You may have noticed that he looks a lot like the most famous astromech droid of them all, R2-D2, only he's black. I'm a little worried about the backlash that's sure to come out about this, as we all remember what happened when The Force Awakens introduced a black stormtrooper

On the plus side, I'm glad we're diversifying the astromech droid population, though. For years, white droids certainly had it good, and they definitely helped to establish the Star Wars universe and all, but it's time for them to step aside and acknowledge progress. Sure, some politicians want us to Make Star Wars Great Again, and bring us back to a time when all the astromech droids were white and the black astromech droids knew their place, but that's just a bunch of propaganda. It's time for a black astromech droid in Star Wars.

I know this is a touchy subject, and I want to treat it with the sensitivity the issue needs, but it's really hard for me to stand idly by as some of my fellow citizens decry any kind of diversity in the Star Wars universe. I'm sure the white droid pride people will come out in force in the comments section, but it's important for us to remember that black droids are droids too, and the Star Wars world is a better place because of that fact.
