In the olden days, directors like Alfred Hitchcock became famous for wearing a suit on set every day. It's a tradition that other directors like Sam Raimi have latched on to and continued into the 21st century, but now Zack Snyder, aka Sweatpants McGee, is trying to glom on to any vestige of respectability a suit might bring a director and has started wearing one on the set of Justice League. Nice try, bro.
Come on Zack, what are we supposed to do, forget that you made Sucker Punch with this 11th hour stab at respectability? Not buying it. While I have come to the director's defense on a handful of occasions, this is one where I find myself reverting to my natural instinct when I hear the name Zack Snyder. I just don't get it, I mean, we all know he's quite the fashionisto, but this just seems like an uncomfortable way to conduct yourself on set. Wouldn't you feel more at home in a blowsy number with a little room to breathe? Maybe a nice football jersey that says "I directed Sucker Punch and all I got was this lousy shirt." That would be fun!
Look, Zack, I know you don't need fashion advice from a guy who wears jeans and t-shirts seven days a week, but this isn't the way to prove you're a respectable director. Make a good movie, then put on a suit. That's the winning formula.
