Of all the bizarre shit we've seen for Suicide Squad to date, this new 1/6 scale figure from Hot Toys might be the strangest. If you're unfamiliar with Hot Toys, they're a Japanese company that produces ridiculously high quality—and ridiculously expensive—12" figures based on movies, TV shows, and various other geeky properties. I own only one of them, the deluxe Joker from The Dark Knight, and I can vouch for it being amazing. The company has set up shop at San Diego Comic Con this week, and among their Suicide Squad offerings of Harley Quinn, The Joker, and Deadshot, was this bizarre Joker-fied Batman figure.
The truly interesting thing here is that Hot Toys has never made a figure that didn't at least appear on screen in a film or TV show, meaning they've never put out a figure based on concept art. Does this mean that The Joker has somehow gotten ahold of one of Batman's suits and modified it to fit in with his garish aesthetic? It's a real head scratcher, and considering that we've never seen this before in any way, shape, or form, it might mean that this absurd looking thing might appear on screen in the film proper.
What do you guys think? Is this for real or is this Hot Toys branching out and trying something new? Either way, it looks right in line with everything else we've seen from the film, so it wouldn't surprise me even a little bit if this shows up in the film.
