SDCC 2016 WB Trailer Round-Up: LEGO Batman, Kong, Fantastic Beasts, and More!

Warner Brothers had a pretty strong showing at SDCC this past week, but with their DC lineup dominating the headlines, a number of other great trailers have slipped through the cracks. Let's take a look at five of the studio's offerings for this year and next year which made a huge impact at the Con!

The LEGO Batman Movie

Hot on the heels of our first look at Robin and The Joker comes the first full trailer for next February's The LEGO Batman Movie. Feeling at once like a loving homage to and brutal deconstruction of everyone's favorite caped crusader, this film looks like it's going to be a whole mess of fun!

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

Everyone's favorite fancy lad, Eddie Redmayne, is headlining the latest entry in the Harry Potter film franchise. With series director David Yates and HP creator J.K. Rowling at the creative helm of this thing, it looks like it could be pretty great, despite some questionable casting: I'm looking at you Dan Fogler!

Kong: Skull Island

The king of the apes is back and this action packed trailer for next March's Kong: Skull Island looks as if it's making good on its promise to feature the biggest ape ever seen on screen. I'm greeting this one with equal parts anticipation and skepticism. That's one hell of a cast they've got, and I'm one of the few people who will admit in mixed company that I really enjoyed 2014's Godzilla, but there's just something stupid about this whole concept that I can't quite put my finger on. At the very least, it's gotta be better than Peter Jackson's bloated 2005 attempt to revive the character.

King Arthur: Legend of the Sword

Finally we have Charlie Hunkam and company doing some Arthurian parkour or whatever the fuck is going on in this Guy Ritchie trailer. This looks like a hot pile of shit that could be fun provided it doesn't take itself too seriously. Ritchie's biggest problem since Snatch, however, is that he takes himself seriously as a director. Could go either way with this crew.
