SDCC 2016 Round-Up: Doctor Strange and Thor: Ragnarok

Marvel's two upcoming magic-based properties got a huge boost at SDCC this weekend, with Doctor Strange unveiling a new trailer, and the cast and crew of Thor: Ragnarok bringing us some goodies to tide us over! Let's dive in, shall we?

New Doctor Strange Trailer & Poster

This Inception-tastic new trailer for Doctor Strange gives us a few more hints as to just how crazy things are going to get in this upcoming Phase Three flick. As always with Marvel trailers, there's a nice taste of the things to come, along with some humor—most notably that Chiwetel Ejiofor's last line in the trailer. Of course, the Batch's accent still sounds rather dodgy, but that's about the biggest complaint I have coming out of this awesome looking trailer. We also got a brand new poster with a pretty fantastic tagline: "The Impossibilities are Endless"

Doctor Strange Panel Highlights

This ten minute video from Flicks and the City's YouTube page hits all the major highlights of the SDCC panel for the film, and gives a few more tantalizing details that we haven't heard before!

New Thor: Ragnarok Logo Unveiled

Since filming has just commenced on Thor: Ragnarok, there wasn't much footage shown from the film, but the stars and director Taika Waititi did give us a few details on the film that we haven't heard before, starting with this awesome new logo. The title seems to incorporate the famous Rainbow Bridge into its design aesthetic, and it also looks more playful than the previously released logo that made the film seem more serious. It's a nice step in the right direction.

We knew that the film would be incorporating elements of the Planet Hulk storyline, and this seems to confirm as much. Marvel VP Ryan Penagos posted this picture on Instagram and it shows off some of the gladiator armor and weapons that the Hulk will be outfitted with in the film. I don't know about you, but I think this is an amazing development for the character and will give him something really fun to do this time around.

Karl Urban's New Skurge Look

Karl Urban took to Twitter over the weekend to debut his new look for Thor: Ragnarok, and it's a solid indication that he was the perfect choice for the role.

Are The Eternals Going to Show Up?

null

Comic Book Movie brings us this last bit of intriguing news about Thor: Ragnarok, which is that Jack Kirby's Eternals may be making an appearance in the film. During the brief sizzle reel shown for the film, fans claimed to have glimpsed a throne room scene featuring a number of characters decked out in costumes similar to Kirby's original designs for the characters, hinting that they may be responsible for the Infinity Stones making their way to earth. Of course this is rampant speculation until we get some manner of confirmation, but it's definitely a fun idea, and any excuse to put more Jack Kirby into the MCU is one worth taking.

What do you guys think? Are you pumped for these two flicks? Be sure to let us know in the comments section below!
