Star Wars Celebration is underway in the UK, and the Rogue One panel just finished up a little while ago. We've got a ton of stuff to get through, including a spectacular behind the scenes sizzle reel, all leading up to tonight's release of the second trailer for the first Star Wars spin-off film.
First things first, check out the sizzle reel above as it's about three and a half minutes of footage both from the film and from the set. It shows off some of the awesome new aliens, droids, creatures, troopers, and rebels that we'll get to know and love this December, as well as the obligatory mention of The Force. I imagine the trailer debuting tonight on ABC will end with that same line, spoken by Felicity Jones' Jyn Erso.
Speaking of Jyn Erso, we also got our first look at the 6" Hasbro Black Series figure based on the character courtesy of The Fwoosh. Unlike Rey's Black Series counterpart, it looks like they've included her head covering as part of the figure and even made it removable. At twenty bucks a pop, it's the least they can do, especially considering the only accessory she seems to come with is her blaster. I do love these figures and have amassed a nice collection of them, but they could really use some more jazz.
Staying in the Erso family, here's our first look at Jyn's dad, Galen Erso, being played by the brilliant Mads Mikkelsen. Details surrounding the character are still being kept under wraps, but he looks appropriately badass.
Also coming to us courtesy of Comic Book Movie is this awesome concept art featuring the original character designs for our group of heroes in the film. They've undergone a lot of changes, and while I do lament the loss of the Mandalorian armor and whatever that giant monster is, I think they've done a nice job of moving toward something we haven't seen before in Star Wars.
The 501st Legion brings us this first close-up look at the Shoretroopers from the film, which—of you're keeping count—is the third new trooper design being unveiled for this film. These guys look like a nice mix of the classic Stormtrooper design and the Scout Troopers from Return of the Jedi. Can't wait to see them in action.
Finally we have this new poster design, the first one officially released by Disney to promote the film. It looks super badass and continues the war theme they've really been driving home about this film.
Tonight on ABC at 8pm/7 Central, they're airing the documentary Secrets of the Force Awakens, which debuted on the Blu-ray release of that film. This will be accompanied by the premiere of the new trailer for Rogue One, which we'll bring you Monday morning once they release it online.
