It's virtually impossible to view Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull as anything more than a disappointment. While I'm sure the film has its defenders, it's a pretty thorough waste of time, talent, and effort. While preproduction has yet to commence on the announced fifth Indiana Jones adventure, Steven Spielberg has some words of assurance for fans who might be worried that Harrison Ford is embarking on a "kill off all my beloved characters" tour.
While speaking with The Hollywood Reporter (link below) about his upcoming adaptation of Roald Dahl's The BFG, talk of course turned to Indy 5 and of course, Spielberg's excited to get started, once he finishes Ready Player One, of course...
Spielberg says he's "super excited" about that movie, dated for July 2019: "I think this one is straight down the pike for the fans." He won't reveal plot details, except this: "The one thing I will tell you is I'm not killing off Harrison [Ford] at the end of it."
So there you have it folks. Don't go into the theater in three years expecting to see Indy killed off. Let's also hope they don't attempt any type of Shia LaBeouf-esque torch passing in this one, they really bungled that in the last one.
