Little bits of information continue to trickle out regarding Ridley Scott's Prometheus follow-up, Alien: Covenant, and the latest concerns Danny McBride's role. A still from the set was released showing Scott talking to McBride on what appears to be the bridge of a ship, meaning that McBride is likely taking over Idris Elba's role as the pilot of whatever ship they're on. Not literally, of course, as Elba's character died at the end of Prometheus, but you know what I mean.
For a dude pushing 80 years old, Ridley Scott shows no signs of slowing down. He's coming off the biggest hit of his career with The Martian, hot on the heels of one of the biggest disappointments of his career, Exodus: Gods and Kings. His movies don't all land, but I'll still shell out money to see whatever he's up to. As far as McBride goes, however, he'll probably be fine in this film, particularly if he's not the center of attention. He tends to flourish on the fringes of scenes, so hopefully Scott doesn't overuse him. Considering he didn't overuse Elba, though, I doubt he'll be shoving McBride down our throats. Alien: Covenant is due to be released next August.
