Wheel of Time, the epic fantasy series by Robert Jordan, is finally heading to television after a legal spat between Red Eagle Entertainment and Jordan's widow Harriet McDougal. Red Eagle aired a "Wheel of Time" pilot aired last year in the middle of the night in an attempt to keep Jordan's estate from getting the TV rights back to the property, and after some choice comments by McDougal on the subject, Red Eagle sued the widow. However, it looks like everything is dealt with, and the TV show is slated for development.
Here is the official announcement Harriet made on Google+ (because where else would you post this stuff):
The following is a press statement that has been approved by the studio involved in contract negotiations:
Update: Wanted to share with you exciting news about The Wheel of Time. Legal issues have been resolved. The Wheel of Time will become a cutting edge TV series! I couldn’t be more pleased. Look for the official announcement coming soon from a major studio —Harriet
No word on how many episodes in the arc will fixate on hemlines, but I'll bet it'll be at least half a season.
