Rian Johnson Runs a Tidy Starship as These 'Star Wars Episode VIII' Set Pics Show

Part of the reason I wasn't really anything more than cautiously optimistic about Star Wars Episode VII was because I more or less knew exactly what to expect from J.J. Abrams. I'll admit that I have no clue what kind of film Rian Johnson is going to deliver, but his past output leads me to believe it will at least be competently made—I admire Brick, hate The Brothers Bloom, and continue to be horribly torn about Looper. The way Johnson is handling set reveals is also vastly different, as you can see from these new set photos the director posted to Tumblr (link below).

Johnson also paraphrased the great Bruce Campbell's immortal Army of Darkness line with the following caption...

“Good. Bad. I’m the guy with the microfiber sham.” I can’t believe we’re halfway through the shoot. (We’re halfway through the shoot!)

So filming is officially halfway through, but can we talk for a minute about the helmet that trooper is wearing in the second photo there? That is some cool shit right there. Hopefully they release a figure of that character because I will army build the shit out of them.
