Among the various characters of the DC Universe, The Legion of Super-Heroes has got to be one of the worst DC creations not named Brother Power the Geek. The superhero team for the year 3000 always struggled to make a name for itself in a universe where just about everyone was part of a super team, but DC's not about to let their lackluster character selection or ridiculous villains stand in the way of turning another property into a television show.
According to Coming Soon (link below), Geoff Johns, DC Comics writer and the Chief Creative Officer for DC Entertainment, said that there will be a treat for Legion fans in an upcoming episode of a DC television program, which could lead to their own small screen adventure.
“Keep watching,” DC Entertainment CCO Geoff Johns announced during today’s DC television presentation. “…You’ll see a hint of the Legion on one of our shows.”
“I love the Legion,” Johns went on to tease regarding a bigger Legion of Super-Heroes appearance down the road. “They’re underused and hopefully we’ll get them out there soon.”
Back when the DC television universe was simply Smallville, Johns wrote an episode featuring Legion members Cosmic Boy, Lightning Lad, Saturn Girl, Brainiac 5, and Chameleon Boy. I don't know, maybe some people love the Legion, but they never did much for me. Too gimmicky and dumb to hold my attention, but the fact that DC knows their strength is on television speaks to a more interesting direction for this incredibly expansive team. I'd at least give it a shot, provided it doesn't look too ridiculous.
