Just a few short weeks ago, everyone in Hollywood under the age of 30 seemed to be testing for the role of Han Solo in the upcoming Star Wars spin-off film. It looks like the list is now down to 12 guys, and rumor has it, the role will be cast soon so that the new Solo can have a cameo in the upcoming Rogue One spin-off set between Episodes III & IV.
Pictured above are Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Logan Lerman, and Jack Reynor, all of whom—according to Variety (link below)—are in the running, but all of whom I'm going to discount as possibilities. In my mind, there are only two guys left out of the ones they're looking at who could pull it off.
Having only seen Emory in two films now, The Place Beyond the Pines and Brooklyn, in both of those films, he demonstrated depth and a devilish sense of humor, both of which I imagine Solo needs in spades. I think he'd be a smashing choice.
Once you get past the fact that he's James Franco's younger brother, he's not only a legitimately talented actor, he's also got charm to spare. Just listen to him gracefully explain away his brother's antics on Conan, and tell me you couldn't see him in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon.
