10 Replacements for Don Lafontaine In Movie Trailers
So the movie trailer voice-over guy, Don Lafontaine, passed away. He was well known for his distinctive voice that was most commonly used in the most dramatic of movie trailers, best showcased in the trailer for Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
With his passing however, the movie trailer world is left without a distinctive, charasmatic, unique voice to overdramatize the action, drama, and intensity that draws in movie-goers and makes us want to see the advertised movie. We decided to have a look at other distinctive voices that could possibly fill in until the next big movie-trailer voice is found... we'll tell you where you know them from, and give you a sample of their audition tape.
The sample audition:
"In a world where one man stands alone...against impossible odds...there is only one way to do things. His way. Now...One man...one mission...one...way...OUT. Coming soon...to a warzone near you...ACTION MOVIE!"
Samuel L. Jackson

You know him as the intense, loud mouthed, no nonsense tough guy from movies such as Pulp Fiction, Shaft, Snakes on a Plane, and the upcoming Christmas movie, The Spirit.
Audition:
"In a world where one man stands alone...against IMPOSSIBLE ODDS! THERE'S ONLY ONE WAY TO DO THINGS!! MY WAY, MUTHAFUCKA!! NOW HAND ME MY GUN! IT'S MY MISSION, AN' I'M GONNA KILL 'EM ALL!! THEY DESERVE TO DIE, AND I HOPE THEY BURN IN HELL!!!!
Vin Diesel

James Earl Jones

You know him best as the voice for Darth Vader, Mufasa from the Lion King, and the CNN ads... his voice is one of the most recognizable in voice-over work.
Audition:
"In a world where one man stands alone...against impossible odds...There is only ONE WAY to do things. HIS WAY. Now...One MAN...ONE MISSION...One...way OUT. Coming soon...to a warzone near you...ACTION MOVIE...I am your father, Simba, on CNN..."
Kiefer Sutherland

You know him best as Jack Bauer from 24, but also as the creepy voice from the movie Phone Booth.

THE FATE OF THE FREE WORLD IS AT STAKE!!!! those are all good choices, but I can't believe no one has thought of Pablo Francisco, the comedian that does an imitation of Don Lafontane.
